The Sudan Crisis program was initiated in response to the intense clashes that erupted on April 15th, 2023 when powerful rival military factions, the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSP), a paramilitary group, started a battle for control of the African nation.
In less than two weeks, the violence has killed more than 500 people and injured more than 4500 people. Tens of thousands of Sudanese have fled their homes while millions of Sudanese continue to be trapped in the capital Khartoum with a collapsing healthcare system, diminishing supplies of food and water, and limited power, telecommunications or banking services.
The Medical Taskforce Team focuses on coordinating effective action on health crises, including coordinating with hospitals and medical facilities, health care providers, and medical associations across all services, including mental health.
The Legal Taskforce team fosters collaboration and coordinates communication between legal services providers, private bar associations, judiciary branches to provide legal assistance, accountability and support.
The Shelter and Transportation Taskforce team identifies needs, and coordinates efforts to facilitate safe and reliable transportation and accommodation to those affected by the crisis.
The Humanitarian Aid Taskforce team is responsible for mobilizing and coordinating humanitarian response with all non-governmental organizations, non-profit organizations and the United Nations.
The Education Taskforce team leads efforts to support students affected by the crisis and support their progress in their educational journeys. This team also works on reform of the educational system in Sudan.
The Employment Taskforce team focuses on professional development, capacity building, job opportunities and supporting activities for those affected by the crisis.
The Human Rights & Advocacy Taskforce team leads efforts focused on protecting human rights and advocating for social justice and accountability through policy reform and initiatives that create a more equitable social structure.
The Technology Taskforce team collaborates across all entities working on platforms, systems, infrastructure and tools to support those affected by the crisis, including telecommunications, data analytics and collaboration.
The Communication & PR Taskforce team leads liaison efforts with global media and news outlets. The team delivers verified news coverage, presents a unified message that amplifies the aspirations of civilians in Sudan, and underscores the urgency for support.
The Finance and Insurance Taskforce team coordinates working across all financial institutions and insurance companies to assess, document, and recover businesses and individuals directly affected by the crisis.
This Taskforce team coordinates activities across all international government agencies, embassies and governmental bodies to support those affected by the crisis and coordinating with local government bodies in Sudan.
The Social Media Taskforce team leads verified social media coordination efforts, including fundraising and volunteerism campaigns, the dissemination of resources and information to those affected by the crisis, and awareness to the global community.
